Veterans’ Advocacy

Wingham RSL Sub-branch provides advocacy and support services to Veterans and their Families through their Veterans’ Advocacy Team (the Team). The Team is based in the Wingham Old Courthouse Building in Farquhar Street, Wingham NSW. The Veterans’ Advocacy Team is available most Wednesdays (except Christmas and Easter periods) from 10 am until 2 pm.

The Team consists a number of Advocates working under the auspices of the Advocacy Training and Development Program (ATDP) in conjunction with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and the Australian Defence Forces (ADF). The Team provides support to Veterans and their Families through the provision of guidance, assistance and support services in Wellbeing and compensation.

The Team provides support and information for:
* Veterans and their dependants,
* Australian Defence Force personnel,
* War widows/widowers,
* Australian participants in British Nuclear Tests in Australia, and
* Members of the Australian Federal Police.

The services the Team can provide includes:
* pensions and compensation compilation and submission,
* health care access,
* rehabilitation access,
* counselling services access,
* help for servicemen and women returning to civilian life, and
* home care assistance access.
